As terrible as the circumstances are, the core focus of the BLM movement is finally being heard by SO many and it is about time.
I’ve noticed that a lot of my friends and followers on social media were looking for new Instagram influencer accounts to help diversify their feeds so I put together a handful of my favorite Black Instagram influencers that you need to be following. Like, right now.
There are a ton of incredible influencers that use their social media platforms to promote equality and racial justice, but if you want to diversify your Instagram feed I suggest following the best Black Instagram influencers. And at this moment in time, it’s more important than ever to support these voices. Because #BlackLivesMatter is not just a trend. This is why you should take a small step in supporting the Black community by hitting that follow button on these Black-owned fashion, travel, and beauty content creators that seriously bomb!
1. Lee Litumbe | Travel
Follow Lee Litumbe’s Instagram to add some color that will brighten up your feed. Years ago, the Cameroonian-American quit her corporate finance job and started exploring Africa. Along the way, she realized that Africans needed to tell their stories of what it was like to travel through Africa and she did a mighty fine job at capturing the beauty of this amazing continent and shared it with the rest of the world. She’s also the founder and creative director of SpiritedPursuit.com, a digital platform where she shares beautiful images of her adventures.
2. Kiitana A | Beauty
Kiitana A is a talented digital content creator who divides her time between New York City and Los Angeles. Her Instagram feed is loaded with super creative hair tutorials that women of every color can follow. She also posts some hilarious and insightful fashion, travel, and DIY content on her IGTV series called “Love It or Leave It” which you absolutely can’t be miss.
3. Chrissy Rutherford | Fashion
Chrissy Rutherford looks for transcendence through fashion, music, and daydreams. The former fashion editor and contributor to Harper’s Bazaar provides advocacy, leadership, and conversation around topics of mental health and anti-racism while also providing a look at her minimalist fashion style and hair routine.
4. Bella Michelle | Beauty
Bella Michelle is a Burundian-born Londoner who posts unique outfit ideas while also sharing some inspirational travel content. On rare occasions, she provides skincare routines, too. Michelle, who’s also known as Only Bells, is an advocate for the BLM movement and promotes causes people can donate to.
5. Annette Richmond | Travel
Annette Richmond is an award-winning writer and body positive advocate. Her Insta and account @fatgirlstraveling focus on what she calls “fat activism through the travel lens.” She’s also the editor-in-chief of the travel, fashion, and lifestyle blog, Fat Girls Guide. So, give her a follow for some great travel tips and some breathtaking photos of exotic locales around the world.
6. Patricia Bright | Beauty
Patricia Bright is a mother of two who loves to create beauty content that she can share with her Insta followers. The one and only, André Leon Talley, is a world renowned fashion journalist, the former American editor-at-large of Vogue magazine, and author of the memoir, The Chiffon Trenches. While you might not find a whole lot of fashion advice on his Insta, you will see plenty of candid shots of his personal life, personal snaps of Anna Wintour, and a few clips from his interviews.

Sherri McMullen is the founder and CEO of McMullen boutiques in Oakland and Palo Alto, California. Her Insta feed is plagued with tons of fashion inspiration from items she handpicked herself. She also gives followers a glimpse into her life and all the labels and designer items she loves.

Kalisa Marie Martin is a chef, a traveler, and a food content creator. So, expect to find lots of photos and videos of mouthwatering recipes, some of which are inspired by her travels.

Danielle Prescod is a fashion editor who provides tons of content on her feed that will make you want to buy everything she posts. But she also uses her social media voice to help people examine the choices and habits that inspire change, and how we can all become a better supporter of racial equality. Ebonee Davis is a stunning fashion model who turned heads when she wore her natural hair during a Calvin Klein campaign. She’s also famous for her Ted Talk where she shared what it was like to be an African-American model. She uses her Insta to try different hair and make-up techniques and experiment with her looks.

Gloria Atanmo is a major BLM supporter and she’s also a popular solo female traveler and life coach whose been featured on Oprah’s O magazine, Forbes, and BBC. Her insta feed not only provides followers with spectacular photos of the wonderful locations she visited, but she also shares a lot of Nigerian comedy, too.
14. Maureen Powel | Travel and Fashion
Maureen Powel is a mom, a model, a stylist and a traveler. Her insta feed is full of photos of amazing locations like Greece, Tanzania and Ghana.
