Zach and I were SO hesitant to move to California. It was the one place we agreed we had zero interest in moving to. But in a conversation last weekend we agreed that this move has been amazing. The boys are 100% obsessed with everything about living here. The beaches, the weather and all the beautiful sunshine are hard to beat. Except for the traffic. The traffic… is not my favorite. It’s not any of our favorite.
Sitting in rush hour traffic with two (pretty soon 3!!) kids who hate the car is not my idea of a fun time. I know I talk about it constantly, but I’m all about making life as simple and easy as possible. And that includes shopping for new clothes. Especially for the boys! Between work, school, life, trips and exploring all that California has to offer, I am happily handing off the boys’ clothing shopping to Stitch Fix Kids.
You know how excited you get when you get something in the mail that’s not a bill or junk?
That times a thousand is how the boys feel when they get something for them in the mail! It was like Christmas morning last week when they each got their own Stitch Fix box. And when they opened them up to see all their goodies – oh man. Between the stickers and all the new clothes, they were ecstatic.
Stitch Fix Kids
Full disclosure – I was a little nervous to try out a styling service for kids. I mean, they’re kids. And if you watch my Insta-Stories, you know they’re like little adorable dirt magnets, perpetually messy. I was worried I’d be sent $80 jeans or things the boys would never wear.
But I had them sit with me and each created their own little Style Profile. Each of them helped me write a note to their Stitch Fix stylists, explaining everything they liked and were hoping for. And I was able to give some input as well. Like I noted that we were hoping for soft easy to wear pieces and now we’re in California we preferred shorts over pants, and no long sleeves or sweatshirts.
H was freaking out over the dinosaur pieces Stitch Fix Kids sent him. The first thing he wanted to do was put on the dinosaur slippers! When J opened his box, the alligator tee was on top and he literally gasped. And he was stoked to see the dinosaur Toms!
Everything was exactly what they were hoping for. H got exactly what he asked for – clothes he could run fast in and Dino things. J got his “dinosaur feet”, alligator and no buttons or zippers!
My very favorite part though? The pricing.
For all of J’s 11 pieces my average price per item was $16, and for all of H’s 10 items the average price was $11 per piece. I was pleasantly surprised at all the brand names and quality of everything. But most of all, the boys were incredibly happy with their Stitch Fix boxes! When I asked if there was anything they didn’t like or wouldn’t wear, they both told me no. In fact, they told me they loved it all, and I can totally see everything being something they would have picked out themselves.
So Stitch Fix has been a win-win. The boys get new clothes they love. And I get to save my time and sanity. Plus, we can continue enjoying the weather and getting out to experience all that the L.A. area has to offer. And if you go through my referral link, you’ll get $25 for any new parent account that schedules a kids’ Fix! Which means now you’re not only saving your time, but your money as well!
