After I took y’all on a tour of my home last week, I had a HUGE influx of requests for going room by room and sharing the details! Ask, and you shall receive. Our guest bathroom is one of my favorite rooms in the house. It’s very simple. But there’s just something so calming about it – and isn’t that the goal? My shower time is my “me time”. It’s where I go to unwind after taking care of everyone else all day. Plus, our entire minimalist boho makeover is super budget friendly! Even the luxurious new shower head that totally elevated my unwind time.
Bohemian bathroom makeover on a budget
Here’s the thing: having a space in your home that you love doesn’t have to come with a steep price point. I talk a lot about how we decorate our home on a budget on my InstaStories. And here’s the main point: Find what you love. Don’t feel like you have to go with the trends. And just because it’s expensive, doesn’t mean it’s better.
So where do I shop? A lot of second hand! Places like thrift stores, estate sales, and vintage shops.
And how do I come up with a “theme”? Umm.. I don’t. I’ll find something I really love, and base the room off that. For this room, I actually had two main pieces that drove my “vision” for this minimalistic boho feeling bathroom makeover. First, was the amazing hansgrohe shower head from Amazon. And the second was a really beautiful piece of carved wood I found at a local garage sale. That little elephant and the idea of creating a clean, luxurious experience set me off running!
hansgrohe shower head:
The first thing we did with the bathroom? Changed the shower head! Why? Our builders grade stock shower head… left a lot to be desired. I saw the hansgrohe PowderRain on Amazon and fell in love with the concept. hansgroheis not your run of the mill shower head. It’s truly created to give you a spa-like experience. And how do they accomplish that? By giving you three different modes!
First, PowderRain is this incredible gentle stream. It’s a relaxing experience that’s low splash, and reminds me of those water therapy options my salon used to offer. After a long day of mom-ing and taking care of everyone else. PowderRain is my go-to stream of choice. When I finally get to take a shower by myself, take a breath, and relax, PowderRain is the perfect choice. Especially with Zach being gone 5 days a week now for work, going to the spa is out of the question. So this is my way to have a spa-like experience at home! And it just so happens to be a heck of a lot cheaper too!
Second is RainAir. This one is more about a stronger, more stimulating and revitalizing sensation. And finally, my second favorite: WhirlAir. Achey shoulders have met their match. Rejuvenation is what this last one is all about.
Budget friendly luxury
There is so much going for this hansgrohe shower head. I love that I can switch between all three modes during my shower. Although my favorite is the PowderRain! My parents stayed with us for a while, while their home renovation was finishing up. Both of them asked about the shower head after their first days here. Their comments ranged from “woah, that’s awesome” to “dang, that was perfect after installing those floors”. So guess what Grammy and PopPop are getting for Christmas this year…?
hansgrohe is the ultimate luxury bathroom addition. Yet, it’s super budget friendly! And even better? It literally took 5 minutes to install. But one of my very favorite aspects has to do with the smaller drops. Because even with a plastic shower curtain liner, it is so much quieter! This also does dual duty. Not only is it quieter, but there’s less overflow / excess splashing. Which means your floors are safe!
Basket wall:
You’ve seen the basket walls all over my home. I love them. And I’m not ashamed to say it. I scour thrift stores and garage sales – they are meccas of baskets! I find them all over. In the basket section, in with the kitchen items, over with plates and platters. So basically, go up and down every aisle! And keep an eye out on those lower levels. They seem to get thrown down there a lot!
For my baskets, I look for flat or very shallow pieces. Their purpose is to add texture and interest, but I don’t want them to become a walking hazard. The more intricate, the better! But don’t discount your basic woven chargers. They can really help balance out the “too busy” feeling.
Minimal bohemian bathroom details:
This runner was the third purchase for our bathroom! I loved the colors and knew it would be the perfect grounding piece to brighten up the room. Don’t be afraid to go bold! A bright runner can do wonders for a room.
That carved little elephant jumped into mind when I found this tribal elephant shower curtain. I love that it’s colors aren’t too intense, but it picks up on some from the runner. And the geometric shapes really play up and tie in the woven wall baskets.
Fresh greenery is always a necessity. It literally brings life into a room! I love these oversized green leaves and giant monstera leaf. Adding them to the room definitely gives a more bohemian yet fresh feel. Don’t feel like switching them out every week or so? Faux is totally fine. But for me, bringing in the fresh stems just feels like it maintains the luxurious feel that the hansgrohe PowderRain that much more!
