This is a sponsored post from Pillsbury™, but all opinions are my own.
Is it just my imagination? Or did I start to hear some birds chirping this week?! While it’s still pretty chilly here in Idaho, I am SO ready for Spring! More sunshine, warmer temperatures, flowers starting to bloom, and Easter. There is just so much to look forward to during the Spring season. With all the freezing that Winter brought us, the kids and I are so beyond excited to get out of the house and start spending some more time outdoors.
Do you have any Spring traditions that you do with your family? Both my husband and I have been trying to integrate some of each of our special family traditions, so we can create new ones with our children. One of the things I remember most about spending time at my Grandmother’s for Easter was all the baking! Our entire family would gather together, get dressed up and go to church, and come home to the most amazing spread. We had handmade rolls, honey baked ham, delicious green beans, and some special family treats.
Easter family traditions: customized cinnamon roll shapes
Now, I do not have the full baking genes from either side of my family. So, while I love to cook and bake, I’m not always the best at it. And that’s when my little life hacks come in handy. Like this super fun and easy way to bring a little more Spring and Easter into our home! Homemade simplified cinnamon roll carrots and bunnies! What kiddo could resist?! Not mine!
Yes, you can make your cinnamon rolls from scratch. But here’s the deal – these Pillsbury Grands!™ Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Icing are basically like taking a bite of childhood. Sunday mornings, I remember standing on my stool in the kitchen with one of my parents. Slamming the roll against the counter, anxious to hear that infamous “pop” noise to signal we had broken the can. I used to make sure I was the first one awake to do the seam-popping honors. And actually, was a devastated little lady when someone else beat me to it, ha. Oh to be young again and have my biggest life problems be centered around a can of Pillsbury Grands!™ Cinnamon Rolls!
Holiday breakfast ideas are my favorite to come up with! And these clever and unique Easter / Spring themed cinnamon rolls came to fruition last year. We were away from family, and on the road, so celebrating was harder than usual. I wanted to do something sweet for my toddler, but was low on time and resources. A quick stop at the store lead me straight to the Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls. Lightbulb! Not only are Pillsbury Grands!™ rolls the exact same ones I used to make with my parents, but they’re delicious and easy! And as I mentioned before, does it get any better than that infamous “pop” when opening the can?!
I’m going to share a few variations that we tried out – Pillsbury Grands!™ Cinnamon Roll Carrots, and two different versions of Pillsbury Grands!™ Cinnamon Roll bunny rabbits! How perfect would these be for a Spring or Easter celebration?! I love having little mom hacks like this – taking something so simple, yet classic, and turning it into something new!
To make the Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll Carrots:
You’ll need:
- 1 can Pillsbury Grands!™ Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Icing 5 ct
- Orange Food Coloring OR Pillsbury Orange Frosting
- Parsley / Cilantro / Kale
How to make Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll Carrots:
1. Open and remove Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls from canister. 2. Shape the cinnamon roll circles into carrot shapes (you’re basically wanting to make a triangle). 3. Bake according to package instructions. 4. Let cool, and frost with orange icing. 5. Lay frosted carrot cinnamon rolls on a few sprigs of parsley (or whatever greenery you decided on). 6. Serve, and enjoy!
To make the Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll Bunny Rabbits:
I make two different types of cinnamon roll bunnies. I think it’s fun to have a little variety, and it all depends on how fancy I’m feeling as to which one I’ll do. The full cinnamon roll bunny bodies are ridiculously adorable, but they do take a few more minutes of prep work than just the cinnamon roll bunny head. However, both are huge crowd pleasers, so you can’t go wrong either way!
You’ll need:
- 1 can Pillsbury Grands!™ Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Icing 5 ct
- Raisins (optional)
- Shredded coconut (optional)
How to make Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll Bunny Rabbits:
1. Unroll Pillsbury Grands!™ Refrigerated Cinnamon Roll, and cut each roll in half. 2. Roll up one half to form the bunny body, with the “loose” end of the roll is pointing downwards – this will form the front leg of the bunny. 3. Cut off 1/3 of the remaining dough, and roll it to form the cinnamon roll bunny’s fluffy tail. 4. With the last remaining 2/3 of dough, roll it up about halfway, and then take a knife and cut the dough in two – this will form the cinnamon roll bunny’s head and ears! 5. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes, or until golden brown. 6. Frost with the included icing, and serve!
A tip for this full body cinnamon roll bunny: roll TIGHTLY. It never fails, but in my rush to get these in the oven, I have a tendency to forget to roll these as tightly as I need to. Especially with the Pillsbury Grands!™ Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls, you’ll want to make sure you wind and roll them more tightly than you have to worry about with the carrot and second version of the cinnamon roll bunny rabbits.
You’ll need:
- 1 can Pillsbury Grands!™ Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Icing 5 ct
- Raisins
- Slivered Almonds
How to make Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll Bunny Rabbits:
These are so ridiculously easy to make, you don’t even really need directions! 1. Unroll one cinnamon roll and cut it into four equal pieces – this will give you four ears. 2. Taking a full cinnamon roll, add two of the cut pieces on, shaping them like ears. You’ll want to keep in mind that the Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll dough will EXPAND while baking, so make sure to not put them too close together! 3. Bake according to package instructions. 4. Frost, and serve!
And there you have it! Three different ways to get a little creative in your kitchen with a can of Pillsbury Grands!™ Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Icing. I dare you to find a kiddo that wouldn’t enjoy making these with their parents in the kitchen for springtime!
