Have you been considering getting eyelash extensions? Each time I’ve tried eyelash extensions, they completely ruined my lashes. I was left with tiny little stumps, even after having them professionally removed. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED how my eyelash extensions looked. No question. They made me feel put together with no effort, which was great. But after trying three different eyelash technicians, and maintaining them for months, I had to stop. Especially when I discovered YUMILashes Keratin Lash Lift.
I met Nichole, aka: @simplicilashes, on Instagram of all places. She’s located in the Portland, Oregon area and does the best lash lifts around. When I walked through her door, she greeted me with earnest enthusiasm and a side of warm herbal tea. My time on the table was comfortable and I found myself surprised when Nichole told me she was all done. Nichole is so easy to talk to, and has pretty awesome taste in music too.
If you’re in the Oregon area, I would highly recommend giving Lash Lifts By Nichole a visit. Plus, if you tell her I sent you, you get a special discount pricing on her YUMILashes lash lift service!
Keep reading to see why a YUMILashes Keratin Lash Lift is better for your eyelashes than eyelash extensions. And why I won’t be going back to eyelash extensions!
So what is YUMILashes?
YUMILashes is a keratin lash treatment that lifts and darkens your natural eyelashes. Unlike eyelash extensions, YUMILashes actually nourishes your eyelashes. This lash lift treatment actually encourages your own natural lashes to grow longer and strong! That means longer looking, darker, and healthier lashes!
What does a lash lift feel like?
Honestly, nothing. A lash lift is SO much different than eyelash extensions in that aspect. With the YUMILashes lash lift, I was not in any discomfort at all. The process only takes about an hour! With eyelash extensions, it constantly felt like someone was pricking my eyelids and I remember my eyes would be so red and irritated even the next day afterwards.
How long does the YUMILashes Lash Lift last?
The results will last you about 8-12 weeks on average. However, I know people who’s lashes are still lifted and curled closer to three and four MONTHS after getting a lash lift!
What are the differences between a lash lift and eyelash extensions?
There are so many differences between eyelash extensions and YUMILashes, I almost don’t know where to start.
Process:
Eyelash Extensions take about 2 hours for a full set vs YUMILashes takes about 1 hour. Eyelash extensions were uncomfortable for me to sit through, and were very irritating to my sensitive eyes. YUMILashes most uncomfortable part were the under eye pads that didn’t want to stay on. I stupidly put on undereye creme a few hours before our appointment, so that was my fault. Once Nichole realized what was happening, she wiped my eyes down and the pads stayed on MUCH easier and more comfortably. We didn’t get much of a chance to do the lash tinting portion, thanks to traffic and a bottle refusing baby, but that will be on my list for next time!
Maintenance:
Eyelash extensions need to be touched up every 3 to 4 weeks with another 2 hour appointment. YUMILashes can be touched up after 10-12 weeks with another 1 hour appointment.
Aftercare:
This is the biggest point of difference I noticed for eyelash extensions vs a YUMILashes lash lift.
Eyelash extensions have a huge long list of what you CAN’T do afterwards. Like, for as long as you have your lash extensions on. You cannot get your lashes wet for 24 -48 hours afterwards. You cannot use an eyelash curler. You must use an oil-free makeup remover. And you must avoid getting any type of conditioner / heavy cream / oil based anything on your lashes. You really shouldn’t even use mascara (granted you don’t much need to with extensions). You have to be super careful when washing your face and in the shower. You have to re-shape them after they do get wet. It’s recommended that you sleep on your back.
YUMILashes Lash Lift has one major aftercare aspect. Don’t get your lashes wet for 48 hours afterwards. That’s it.
If you want to pump up your natural lashes even more, consider using an eyelash growth serum. Nichole has an awesome recommendation for a natural lash serum, or there’s always good ole Castor Oil! Organic Castor Oil is one of the best oils for eyelash growth. It contains proteins, vitamins and fatty acids that will help your lashes grow long and strong. And considering you’re already getting a super strength boost from the Keratin treatment, your lashes will be doubly happy!
What is the best part about YUMILashes?
No eyelash extensions, no lash lengthening serum (although I do love mine!), no lash curling perm. Just your own lashes, healthier. An hour appointment every 12 weeks to give your lashes a rich keratin and vitamin treatment. No having to worry about rubbing and ruining your eyelash extensions. You can rub your eyes, go swimming, wear makeup, take a shower without a second thought. And if you have sensitive eyes like me, you’re good. No gross toxins or chemicals or permanent glue on your eyes.
But honestly, the low maintenance is the best. I wake up in the morning, and actually *look* awake. My whole eye area looks so much brighter and more alert. My very favorite part, however, is that doing the YUMILash lash lift is good for my lashes. The more I do the keratin lash lift, the healthier, longer and stronger my lashes will continue to get! Plus, when we get my tint done next time, that will mean I won’t even have to wear mascara!
My results are INCREDIBLE and even now, a week later, my lashes look gorgeous and have required ZERO maintenance. Which is kind of the bees knees considering I have a baby who doesn’t nap and a toddler who is obsessed with me and finding the time to do anything with myself is pretty difficult these days.
