I’ve talked about it before, yet despite my best efforts, I have a picky eater for a toddler. We’ve exposed him to all sorts of different foods. Tried every trick in the book. Read every article I could find online. But nope, he knows what he likes and doesn’t deviate from that. On the plus side, he loves carbs and fruit, so at least that gives me options!
In hopes that this may help some of you break out of your toddler breakfast rut, H and I are going to share a favorite with you today: Breakfast kebab skewers! These breakfasts on a stick are not only easy to make and customize to your toddler’s preferences, but they’re also great as toddler afternoon snacks. And thanks to Eggo’s new formulation that is free from artificial, you can feel good about what you’re giving your kiddo.
Toddler Approved Fruit and Waffle Kebabs
If you’re needing quick and easy breakfast or snack ideas, these skewers are just that. Literally only minutes to prepare and make, you can have a breakfast kebab in your child’s hand before their inner Hangry monster has a chance to come out.
Feel free to swap anything around with what you can find in your pantry at home. That’s the beauty of these breakfast kebabs, they are meant to be easy to adapt and easily done in any home! And it sure doesn’t hurt that even the less-than-Pinterest-worthy mom can make something “pinnable”.

- Eggo Waffles
- Strawberries
- Raspberries
- Bananas
- Bacon, cooked
- 1/3 cup Vanilla Greek Yogurt
- 1/4 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Maple Syrup
- Wash and trim fruit.
- Toast waffles and cut into quarters.
- Using a skewer, layer waffles, bacon and fruit.
- Add honey and cinnamon to greek yogurt. Stir and Serve!
- I used the Eggo Dory Blueberry Bubbles and Eggo Brown Sugar Cinnamon Roll Wafflers! Feel free to mix it up a little with your flavor choices, or try Eggo Pancakes!

My favorite breakfast kebab skewer recipe starts with Eggo Wafflers Brown Sugar Cinnamon Roll. By layering bacon, banana and the cinnamon roll flavors, it’s basically a party in my mouth. And the maple yogurt is just sweet enough and makes for the perfect dip. When I let H make his own, he basically piles it all on. His current toddler approved favorite breakfast combination uses the Eggo Waffles Dory Blueberry Bubbles. He likes to layer with banana, strawberry and raspberries, and I like that he’s actually eating a real meal.
Not just for breakfast, these fruit and waffle skewers make awesome snacks too!
Toasting the Eggo Waffles only takes a few minutes, and gives me just the right amount of time to wash and cut up some fruit. In under 10 minutes, start to finish, you have yourself a perfect meal! So when we need a quick hunger quencher, I always check my freezer and fruit bowl first.
One of the things I love about these easy breakfast skewers is that my toddler can help put them together. A better breakfast doesn’t have to mean expensive or time consuming. In fact, I believe in taking shortcuts whenever possible. Especially when time is of the essence (which, let’s be honest, is always when kids are involved)! I’m a huge proponent of getting kids involved in the kitchen, and this is such an easy way to do that.
So run over to Target before May 13th, and take advantage of Eggo’s $1.99 product sale! Just look for their new green banner to see how Eggo is now made with ‘No Artificial Flavors. Colors from Natural Sources.’. And enjoy!
