Glamorous Downtown Maternity Photoshoot

If there’s ever a time in your life you need to feel beautiful, it’s when you’re pregnant. Maternity photos are a time to embrace your inner goddess and turn up the glamor. And that’s just what Edith did to this very tired and very pregnant mom. 

Edith is one of those amazing photographers who can do it all. She not only takes beautiful pictures and edits them perfectly, but she also has an incredible collection of maternity gowns and is a licensed hair and makeup artist. Yeah. Talk about being the Beyonce of the photography business! So not only did she walk around downtown Boise for a maternity photoshoot with yours truly, but she got me all dolled up and made me feel like a million bucks while doing it. Now, if she could just come live with me, so I could always feel that beautiful, that would be great…

This set of maternity pictures is definitely a different vibe than the light breezy pregnancy photos ELMPhotography and I took previously. This time it was much more vavavoom, and we switched up the setting for an urban feel.

Downtown glamorous Fall maternity photoshoot

Because we still wanted that romantic vibe for these pregnancy photos, Edith went with a very classic red lip and soft smoky eye. After curling my hair and sweeping it up into the most perfectly tousled updo, I felt straight out of a vintage 1940s movie. The pièce de résistance was the stunning Krysten Gown from Sew Trendy Accessories. This maternity gown is Kate Middleton worthy. Seriously. 

With a beautiful boat neck and long sleeves, the Krysten’s slim fit is just swoon worthy. And because Sew Trendy knows how to knock it out of the park, the droop back is a classy surprise. I am so obsessed with how this wonderfully soft knit just draped over all 36ish weeks of this pregnant mama for the maternity photoshoot. The knit stretched with me as we walked around downtown scouting out picture locations, and the slight train moved just beautifully. And don’t even get me started on the royal blue color. My goodness. SO rich! I was tempted to borrow it permanently from ELMPhotography‘s maternity gown selection BUT this piece needs to be seen, and seen often. 

Looking at these maternity pictures, even 6 months later, I am so in love.

I barely even recognize myself, but in a good way. My yoga pants and nursing friendly tee, freshly strewn with boogers and snot in no way resemble this empowered, life growing woman. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In this very messy and chaotic season of life, it’s so wonderful to me to have these. My heart beats a little faster when I think back to the days when our rainbow baby was still in my womb. I felt glamorous, like a romantic leading lady. And I love the juxtaposition of the concrete downtown city and the soft flowy Sew Trendy Accessories gown in these maternity pictures. Love. Just, love. These might be my favorite of the bunch so far!
