I’m sharing #MrsMeyers in my life as part of a Mrs. Meyer’s sponsored series for Socialstars™
Spring Cleaning. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve been in a major cleanup mode lately. I am so tired of all the excess and all the dirt and dust that excess contributes to our home. However, I’m also a mom to two little dudes who are exhausting (but so very cute), so wanting to clean and actually cleaning are two very different things.
Because of this, I have started implementing a couple of things every day to help me feel more motivated. With a few little changes, including getting my kiddos involved, we are all getting into the Spring Cleaning spirit!
How to make Spring cleaning more fun
1. Turn up the music!
This is like that unspoken rule for everything in life. Music instantly makes everything better and can make time pass so much faster. Even better is when you turn cleaning time into a cleaning dance party! I get to practice my sweet dance moves, get in a little exercise and release some endorphins, and practice my favorite songs for my never-gonna-happen singing competition auditions.
Music has actually been proven to increase productivity, and it’s a great way to catch up on your favorite podcasts as well. We made a “H’s faves” mix on our phones, and blast it while we work. Making chore time into something fun, rather than a type of punishment is something I’m really trying to get into. Hopefully starting this now will be beneficial for us later in life as our kids get older!
Incorporate Good Smells!
I don’t know about you, but I have emotional responses to just about everything life throws my way, including scents. It’s been scientifically proven that certain smells can illicit a physical reaction. That’s why I always diffuse my favorite motivational mix when I need a little extra boost in productivity!
In order to make me actually want to get in there and deal with the grime, I use Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Lilac Dish Soap! With the first squirt onto my brush, my shoulders relax, and as I start lathering and scrubbing day old ketchup off my toddler’s plates, my whole body follows. It reminds me of growing up in Virginia and the sweet smell of the lilac bushes as I ran around in the summer sun. Which is basically the complete opposite of “adulting”, and a very welcomed happy memory.
More than just a good smell, though, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Lilac Dish Soap is a cleaning powerhouse. A little goes a long way for a rich, grease-tackling concentrated clean. I usually put a few drops onto my pan and let H scrub his heart out. Theformula containing Soap Bark Extract is an awesome degreaser to cut through any oily leftovers that might be clinging for their lives, and the dishes always rinse away cleanly. (Unless you count all the water on the countertops thanks to an overexcited bubble destroying toddler…)
Get the whole family involved!
Speaking of an excited toddler, doing any chore by myself is never fun, and an easy way to make Spring Cleaning more fun is to get my kiddos and husband involved. Because Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Lilac Dish Soap is made without artificial colors, ammonia, phthalates, chlorine bleach, parabens, and phosphates I feel comfortable letting my toddler (and hubby) use it.
And we don’t have to stay inside! One of the first things I like to tackle on my Spring Cleaning checklist is cleaning out the refrigerator. My toddler LOVES helping me take all the food out of the fridge, lay everything on the counter, and remove all the drawers. We then head outside with the drawers and shelves and our Clean Day Lilac Dish Soap, a few scrub brushes and the hose and get to work washing down every surface! H is awesome at getting in all the nooks and crannies, and I always turn cleaning into a game. He loves trying to see how many bubbles he can make and how much of each surface he can cover! And I love that he’s doing most of the work for me and having fun!
Why Mrs. Meyer’s?
Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Lilac Dish Soap is made with essential oils and plant-derived ingredients. With a home that’s constantly filled with little ones and a ginormous dog, we are very careful with what products we bring into it. I want to make sure our cleaning products are safe for everyone and everything! And we are huge lovers of essential oils – they are jam packed with powerful naturally derived components that tackle dirt, grease and grime without unnecessary additives.
Call me vain, but I am also a big time visual shopper as well. Mrs. Meyer’s packaging always catches my eye as I’m going down the aisle! It’s clean (in more ways than one), simple, and feminine enough for my girly tendencies, but “cool” and modern enough for my husband to enjoy keeping on our counter tops as well. As an added bonus, their packaging is recyclable and BPA free!
I also always look into the company that I’m purchasing from to make sure my morals align with theirs. Mrs. Meyer’s are not only cruelty free, but also manufactured in the USA – that’s like a double whammy of amazingness! You won’t ever find them testing their products on animals or using animal-derived ingredients. And that’s a company I can be proud to support!
