Do you feel that? That hint of chill in the air? I finally felt it this past weekend and it got me SO excited for fall! When I was pregnant with H, it was primarily in the Fall and early winter. I didn’t experience the discomfort that is being largely pregnant during the summer. I lived in pregnancy leggings and both maternity and non-maternity tunic tops and it was easy to stay comfortable.
Being in my third trimester during the hottest part of the summer this year has me wearing all the dresses I own. And that I can still squeeze into. I have loved finding cute pregnancy clothing that isn’t specifically maternity. Knowing that I can rock these non-maternity clothes before, during and after pregnancy makes my thrifty heart happy. The more I can wear something without stretching it out, the better!
I discovered the cutest little boutique on Instagram a few weeks ago, Maud Haus. I loved their modest clothing options that were still chic and fashionable. Most importantly in my current Third Trimester status, comfortable!
This grey Phoenix Dress (c/o Maud Haus) that I’m wearing is on very heavy rotation these last few weeks. The fabric is super soft, and I love that the coloring isn’t flat – it’s a mottled/striated grey has so much dimension. Because of my growing belly (and lets be honest, the hips, thighs, waist, chest, etc are all growing too…), the oversized babydoll style of the Phoenix dress skims over everything softly, without me having to worry about stretching out the fabric, and I’m sure will be amazing for camouflaging the extra bits postpartum. The pompom detailing under the bust is cute without being too cutesy or juvenile and helps take this dress from super basic to a great wardrobe staple.
I paired it with Maud Haus’ Joey Sweater, because I love how the beige fabric has the same striations in the coloring, and because it’s another amazing neutral that goes with everything. I’ve worn it with jeans, tank dresses, leggings, etc, and it’s the perfect in-between-weather layering piece! My favorite little detail is the single snap button around the neckline, which looks amazing when buttoned or left open. I love throwing it over a mock neck turtleneck dress that I have and snapping the single button – instant chic!
I finished it off with a beautiful gold Itzel Stacked Necklace Set c/o BohoBlu, and my favorite new pair of glasses thanks to LensCrafters. I’ve posted a ton about my search for the perfect frames for me to wear on a daily basis. I finally found these Michael Kors MK8013 Grayton stunners last month that is perfection. I used to wear contacts as much as I possibly could. My pregnancy with H zapped my eyes of all moisture and comfort when it comes to wearing the beautiful invisible ocular assistants. I’ve given in and accepted that I’m going to be a Four Eyes for life (or at least until my eyes stop changing enough to get Lasik).
I got hooked up at my local LensCrafters with a full eye exam and contact fitting. Then, I stumbled upon these tortoise shell Michael Kors frames while I was leaving. Initially wanted a simple pair of black rectangular frames, so I could wear them with any and everything. But I couldn’t get over the color of the side arms on these MK8013 Graytons. They’re not quite red, not quite orange, not quite coral – it’s a gorgeous bold color that isn’t overly in your face, and looks stunning with the tortoiseshell front! My optometrist was quick and knowledgeable and had me in and out in no time, but still managed to answer all my questions and sent me home with my first pair of contacts in over three years that I’ve been able to wear for longer than an hour! The staff at my local LensCrafters Boise store left something to be desired and were too busy talking amongst themselves to help me out, but thankfully I had brought along the great eye of both my Husband and H, so it was easy to choose these as THE frames for me! Check out the #MyLCLook hashtag on Instagram to see more awesomeness from LensCrafters!
