Monday Introductions // Little & Mighty: Apparel for Little Explorers

Rachel, one of the three mamas behind Little & Mighty reached out to me a few months ago to introduce her clothing line, and I immediately fell in love with their adorable tees and onesies for babies and toddlers. All of their items are American made, and feature hand drawn designs that are perfect for the little in your life. 

I chose to feature Little & Mighty’s “The Radish Shirt” for H for two reasons: first because my little rabbit loves them, and secondly because of the item description: “Radishes grow quickly; from seed to table in about 25 days. Some varieties of radishes can grow up to three feet long, weighing over 100 pounds.” It may be about a Radish, but those words are also a perfect fit for H, or any kiddo. The growing process does, in fact, take a little longer than 25 days, but the happening-in-the-blink-of-an-eye aspect is spot on. Some days I swear H goes to bed in PJs that fit him perfectly, and then wakes up in ankle waders!

Little and Mighty is a creative children’s apparel company that believes all littles are mighty! They strive to offer high quality, moderately priced products that encourage kids to explore the world around them and discover new ways they are mighty. These three mamas support and encourage parents and celebrate childhood, and see themselves as partners with our customers, suppliers, and the environment. 

They agree that while fashion has always been something they were interested in, children’s fashion specifically wasn’t even on their radar until they became moms themselves. Suddenly, it became really important to them when looking for specific things and they weren’t able to find them, and the rest is history! Little & Mighty was started to fill a gap the mamas saw within the children’s clothing market. Being mom’s to adventurous kiddos, they found it challenging to find durable, simply designed clothes that could be shared by siblings. As time has gone on, however, the moms have also realized that Little & Mighty isn’t only filling the gap they noticed, but it’s also about encouraging children to be adventurers, curious and simply enjoy their brief childhood!

It took about 6 months to come up with the name “Little & Mighty”. They had numerous contenders (‘so happy we didn’t go with any of those!’) but Little & Mighty really resonated with each of them. It stands for so much! It was actually inspired by the quote: “Though she be but little she is fierce”. Children are oh so mighty, they have so much potential and they can do anything!

These mamas are continually inspired by their kiddos, it’s amazing to them how unique and mighty their little ones are from the get-go. They are also inspired by the stories they hear from other parents about their own children. Fellow parents inspire them with their own mighty abilities – to love fiercely, inspire creativity, and do what needs to be done when things are tough. Not even gonna lie, I may have teared up a little at this response! 

Rachel and her partners agree that balance is hard, and doesn’t come easily do them. In fact, the mamas admit that they ‘fail a lot’  – ‘We can’t do it all but we certainly try to prioritize and get the most important stuff done. Sometimes emails are late and sometimes dinner is late. We are constantly trying new methods to balance everything and it helps that there are three of us. We try and use that to our advance and divide and conquer when needed.” 

When they’re not busy designing new tees and working on Little & Mighty, you could find these mamas running after their kids, cleaning up messes, playing at the park, hanging out with family and enjoying this season of motherhood and life. It’s quite possible you might also find them belting their hearts out to Janis Joplin’s “Piece of my Heart” while doing any of these activities – oh how I’d love to be a fly on that wall! 

Choosing favorite designs is way too hard, which I can believe considering they create them themselves! A few that make their hearts pitter patter are The Elephant Onesie, the Hot Air Balloon shirt, the Snail shirt and the Toad shirt. The Hot Air Balloon shirt was actually a strong contender for me to choose for H, because I love the colors and the raglan they chose to use! 

Little & Mighty is run by moms just like us – they’re just trying to do their best and find a good balance for it all. They fail a lot, they succeed sometimes, but the most important to them is going out there and trying again. One of their favorite perks about starting Little & Mighty has been getting to know other mothers, and they look forward to all the relationships they will create in the future! 

As you can see, it’s easy to fall in love with not only Little & Mighty’s designs, but also the mamas behind the shop.
