Hello again Monday! This week is a little bittersweet for me, because as of Thursday I will have a TWO YEAR OLD (insert crying emoji face here) – how in the heck is that even possible?! Luckily, I have lots of pretty Logan + Lenora goodies (and a glass of wine or four) to comfort me, and you can too if you stay tuned until the end to enter the giveaway 😉 
Today I am honored to bring you the amazing mother, artist and creator behind Logan and Lenora: Rachel Danish. When she was expecting her first born, Logan, Rachel decided she wanted to make a change from her current job, and get back to creating. She had always dreamed of designing and making her own products to sell, so she took a leap and gave it a shot, and here we are today!
Do you see these beautiful colors? Do these look like your mamas wet bags? No way, Jose! For the first time, I don’t have to carry around a whole diaper bag with me or feel embarrassed to carry around our cloth diapers and mama necessities when we’re out and about. The Daytripper Wet and Dry Tote has made cloth diapering during weekend trips so much easier, and I love that it doubles as a wet bag for when we go swimming!

The name represents Logan, her first born, and her Grandmother Lenora who taught her how to sew. Rachel says that Lenora was the artistic matriarch of their family. She had amazing class and style, and abundant creativity, it’s no surprise she served as such an inspiration! In fact, Rachel still uses her grandmother’s Bernina sewing machine in my studio. A woman after my own true heart, as I inherited my Grammy’s sewing machine and love feeling her presence every time I sew on it. 
Along with her grandmother, Rachel says that her journey of motherhood has been a large source of her inspiration, as well as the strong women she has met along the way. I love the way Rachel puts it, that “it’s the juxtaposition of womanhood, who we are before kids, with who we become as mothers. We don’t lose our old sense of self, of style, of humor, but our identity grows to encompass our children and the little lives we create and nurture. I wanted to design products that speak to this evolution, that shout out to our sense of fun style as women, but function beautifully for our ever-changing needs as mothers.” How beautiful and poignant of a statement is that?! 

You could say that a love of fashion was in Rachel’s blood from a young age – she started off sewing dresses for all of her American Girl Dolls, then her friend’s American Girl Dolls, then for her friends in general. Funnily enough, that’s one of the first projects I can remember doing myself with my mother and Grammy as well: picking out fabrics from the rows together and then taking them back to my Grammy’s house to watch and emulate her behind the machine. It may have started with doll clothing, but accessories have become Rachel’s main passion – she LOVES designing bags!
Rachel credits her husband, Ben, for being able to help her balance it all. Ben came on with the business a year ago this month in January of 2015. Rachel and Ben have loved re-ordering their lives so that they can trade off time working and being with their kiddos. It has also given them a lot of flexibility to take a long weekend, or to go on a spontaneous day trip! Rachel admits that running their own business is hard work, REALLY hard work, and it never lets up. However, they both love working on their own business, and setting a schedule that works around their family’s needs. Now, if only she and Ben could figure out a way to get their boys to sleep in later than 6am… 😉 

 
When she’s not busy running Logan + Lenora, Rachel loves hosting dinner parties with friends – her husband Ben is an amazing cook and she love setting the scene. They are self-proclaimed foodies – so they’re always trying out new restaurants around DC, or trying to find the best doughnuts (yum!). In the spring/summer you can most likely find Rachel out in their garden, the boys are probably getting wet and muddy somehow, and Ben happily taking his place behind the grill. You probably wont find her on The Voice anytime soon, as she claims she can’t carry a tune, but when no ones around she loves to belt out Adele’s ‘Hello’, because it’s awesome. Sing on, mama! That’s easily my favorite car song to Karaoke when it’s just H and I in the car!

See that scarf I’m wearing? If I told you it was also a nursing cover, would you believe me? I am over the moon with my new wet bags that I can finally not feel ashamed to bring out into the light of day, but this amazing Boho Nursing Scarf in Sunday Stroll is literally hanging next to my door because I wear it almost every day. It is most likely Rachel’s favorite item in the shop, too! The colors are amazing, but the versatility is my favorite aspect. Unfortunately, I’m not nursing H anymore, but that doesn’t stop me from using Logan + Lenora’s nursing scarf as a bright accessory. It’s generously sized so I can style it in several different ways, but the best part right now for us non-nursing mamas is that it can fit over my Lillebaby soft structured buckle carrier (or any carrier for that matter)! 
The Nursing Scarf was a design project of hers that took quite awhile. Rachel is so happy with how it turned out, and has been using it non-stop since their daughter was born in July! All the fabric choices are gorgeous, but she, like myself, fell in love with the print when she saw it, and adores the dark floral with pops of bright color. Another one of her favorites is anything in the Go Spot Go print, with the pop of mint zipper. It just makes her smile!
Starting Logan + Lenora and running it since 2013 has been a HUGE learning experience for Rachel. She has loved designing products that are not only beautiful, but practical as well, for women, for the mothering part of their journey. She is constantly pushing herself, and is admittedly her own worst critic. Even with all the hard work and long nights though, she still loves seeing each and every single order that comes through, because to her, it is very personal. Each product in her shop equals countless hours spent designing and researching and creating, so it means the world to her when Rachel sees other moms and families enjoying their products. She is so thankful for everyone who continues to shop at Logan + Lenora and shares about them!

    I am in LOVE with these beautiful prints and patterns! The daytripper wet/dry bag is my favorite. My kids are out of diapers but we would definitely use one of those bags for swimming and beach trips.

    I love their prints! I just got my first wetbags from L+L and they're amazing! I'd love to get the wet/dry diaper clutch and "cheat" and keep it for myself!

    I love the wet+dry diaper clutch! So cool! I like Shiloh but that looks like it is out of print. My next favorite is Mintwood or Zoom. Both are adorable! They have the best prints!!! Would love to try it!
