In all my recent findings of skin care research, I’ve totally fallen in love with derma e®. My sensitive, acne-prone, combination skin has almost done a 180 and is so much more manageable – its a glorious thing. A little while ago I introduced derma e® and shared why I am so enamored with them (check out that post here), and then last week I talked about how derma e®’s Evenly Radiant Brightening cleanser is the perfect cleanser to use with my Soniclear Petite (see that post here). I literally cannot stop talking about the trio of products that have now become a part of my daily routine.
How to prepare your skin for winter
Now that the seasons are changing, my skin’s needs are as well. As the air gets colder, and the wind picks up, my poor face gets chapped and my normally combination skin starts to move towards the dryer side of the spectrum. The face wash I was using last winter was way too harsh on my skin, and I was trying almost any moisturizer I could get my hands on to combat the dry patches. A few of them that I tried helped with the dryness and redness, but they would leave my skin feeling greasy and didn’t fully absorb into my skin. So, I wasn’t as dry, but I was left looking super shiny so I was having all new issues.
This year, after having such a great success with derma e®’s Evenly Radiant cleanser, night creme, and microdermabrasion scrub, I decided to take an easy gamble, and tried out their Hydrating Day Crème with Hyaluronic Acid. It’s been about two weeks and I can happily say that each experience with derma e® just keeps getting better and better.
My Winter Skin Care Routine:
– First, I dampen my skin and add a pump of derma e®’s Evenly Radiant Brightening cleanser to my Soniclear Petite and then let the sonic cleansing brush do its thing in each ‘zone’. After I’m done with the two, I pat (not rub) my face dry, and let it air dry for a few seconds.
– Second, now that winter is around the corner, I’ve added in a toner. The one I’m currently using is Amara Organics’ Facial Toner with Witch Hazel & Vitamin C that I ordered several months ago on Amazon, but derma e® has an Evenly Radiant toner that is next on my list once my Amara Organics’ mist is out. In my opinion (and short month and a half experience) toner is vastly underrated. I added it to my routine when I discovered that by using a facial toner, you area actually removing any remaining residue that may be left from my cleanser or my really hard water. In addition, using a toner also helps to close my pores faster, restore the pH balance of my skin, and it helps optimally prep my skin to reap the maximum benefits from my new moisturizer.
– After toning, I apply a small amount of derma e®’s Hydrating Day Crème with Hyaluronic Acid over my entire face (and neck) in the mornings, and Evenly Radiant® Brightening Night Crème at night before bed. I’ve been using the Night Creme for a little over 2 months and it has been huge in evening out my skin tone and helping to balance out my skin’s texture and keeping it moisturized, but now that I’ve started using the Soniclear Petite sonic cleansing brush, my old Target moisturizer just isn’t cutting it anymore.
So, I reached out to derma e® to test out their Day Crème and have been thoroughly impressed with how hydrating it is, and how well it has been able to keep my dry skin at bay – even with freezing temps and chilly winds. The active ingredient Hyaluronic Acid, is derma e®’s secret weapon: a single molecule of Hyaluronic Acid can “, hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, binding moisture to help plump, soften, smooth, tone and rehydrate skin”, as well as delivering anti-aging and soothing properties to help protect my skin from the harsh weather and free radicals. As always, all of derma e®’s products are 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten free, and GMO-free, so I can feel confident in what I’m putting on my skin.
– Once the Hydrating Day Creme is on, I’m good to go! It’s safe to use under makeup, and I’ll actually sometimes mix it with some concealer or foundation to create my own light tinted moisturizer that I know won’t clog my pores or cause my sensitive skin to react. derma e®’s Hydrating Day Crème with Hyaluronic Acid has been a godsend for my dry winter skin so far this year, and I’m excited to see how it holds up as the weather gets colder and as my skin gets exposed to more inclement weather and harsh elements!
If you have sensitive and / or acne prone skin like mine that needs a little extra hydrating help during the cold winter months, you will definitely want need to check out this amazing moisturizer!
