To say this past month has been stressful would be an understatement. You may be aware that stress is a trigger for certain reactions in your body that can contribute to redness, puffiness and acne breakouts, and I’m here to tell you that my poor skin has been on the receiving end. Stress leads to my adrenal glands in overdrive, which then means my glands are all about producing more oils, which then lead to more breakouts and then I’m left a sad little lady with red spots all over my face, which causes me more stress, and its basically the never ending story.
A little while ago, I chatted about how I’m trying to better myself, and one of my first steps to that was feeling better from the outside, in (vain, I know, but you know what they say: when you look good, you feel good). I totally revamped my skincare products by swapping out my generic face wash and lotion for derma e®’s Evenly Radiant line, and I think the results speak for themselves (check them out here). However, in my experience, even the amazing derma e® isn’t foolproof against stress induced acne and breakouts due to big hormonal influxes on its own.
My favorite products for sensitive and acne prone skin:
Soniclear Petite Review:
I recently decided to take the plunge into a facial brush after hearing several friends rave over theirs. However, there are SO many brands on the market, and of the more well known brands there are several different models and its all a little overwhelming! After a lot of research, and a few emails between myself and a Michael Todd representative, I decided on the Soniclear Petite for a multitude of reasons:
First off, Soniclear Petite’s sonic cleansing brush is antimicrobial, and not only that but it’s the world’s first! That means there is actually technology built into Soniclear Petite’s brushes to guard against “up to 99.9% of stain and odor causing bacteria so your brushes stay cleaner, fresher longer for up to 6 months”. That also means I won’t have to buy replacement brush heads as often as other brand’s, and my inner cheapskate is celebrating that with this particular brush, I will be saving money!
From Michael Todd:”Sonic cleansing can create a breeding ground for microbial contamination when skin cells, makeup and moisture residue combine with bacteria that cling to the brush bristles between cleansings. Traditinal rotary and sonic skin cleansing systems don’t offer protection against bacteria, so the team at Michael Todd set out to find a solution. After extensive research and testing, we found a way to incorporate safe, effective and durable antimicrobial technology into the brush heads at the time of manufacture. The result is SONICLEAR, a revolutionary sonic cleansing brush that throoughly cleanses the skin and then protects itself against microbial contamination leaving the brushes cleaner, fresher for longer.”
Secondly, it’s not water resistant, the Soniclear Petite is waterproof! So, I don’t have to stick to using it at the sink, I can bring it with me in the shower and don’t have to worry about ruining something that I just invested a good chunk of change in. Plus, with the included USB Induction Charger, I can easily leave it plugged in overnight and then get around 35 minutes of use out of that one charge, which is an average of 30 uses for me!
Next, it’s approved for all skin types! How do they do this? Soniclear Petite has three customizable cleansing speeds so you can tailor your sonic cleansing experience to your skin’s exact needs and concerns. Changing speeds is as easy as tapping on the up or down arrow buttons, and you can choose from Low, 2nd, and High speeds.
I’ve only had mine for about a week now, and I definitely have more sensitive skin, so I’m using it on the lowest speed and probably will until my skin gets a little more acclimated to the new routine. However, just because I’m using the lowest speed doesn’t mean that I’m not seeing results!
As I mentioned, I’ve only been using it a week, but I’m noticing that my skin is so much smoother and I had no idea how clean my skin could actually get. I cleaned my face once after wearing a full face of makeup (which for me is: concealer, a little bronzer and mascara) just using my hands and face wash, and then added a little of the derma e® Evenly Radiant Brightening Cleanser again to the brush head of my Soniclear Petite and followed the included directions, using the built in timer.
The timer is an awesome feature to have, as it beeps at me every 20 seconds to tell me know that its time to move on to the next ‘zone’, so I don’t have to keep track in my head like I was doing with a Groupon cheapie I bought a few years ago (and quickly abandoned). I’m almost embarrassed to admit that when I finished each zone and looked at the brush, there was makeup on the bristles. Welp, apparently, when I thought I had been cleaning my face sufficiently, I was in a crazy world of denial. No wonder my face has a tendency to break out every time I wear makeup – I was never fully cleaning my face!
I am totally hooked on how deep of a clean I get with this beauty of a compact tool and am so impressed that it gives me such a powerful cleansing that is still gentle enough for my sensitive skin! Now that I’m using the Soniclear Petite in conjunction with my derma e® Evenly Radiant Brightening products, I am seeing such a huge difference in the consistency of my skin’s clarity, evenness and brightness, and I can’t recommend the combination enough!

I also have sensitive skin, and it can be difficult to find products that won't break out my skin, or that won't irritate it. I've never used products from from Michael Todd, but I've read many amazing reviews on them. Thanks so much for sharing. Commenting from The Blogging Elite from blissfullybrunette.com

Another anti-aging skin care problem is a decrease in the skin's production of collagen and elastin. The skin's firmness, suppleness, and plumpness deteriorate with a decrease of collagen and elastin causing sagging, fine lines, and deep wrinkles. anti-wrinkle beauty products
