Cuddle + Kind:
The small shop hand-knit dolls that are fighting childhood hunger worldwide and providing sustainable fair trade wages for women.
The minute I learned of cuddle + kind, I knew I had to be a part of their work.
I’d like to think that I’ve always been a compassionate person, but since becoming a mother it has increased 10 fold, especially when it comes to children. Innocent, sweet, genuine little humans who have done no wrongs to this world, deserve no wrongs done unto them. It hurts my heart to think of all the children who are going without breakfast or lunch or dinner, and not for the first time.

Derek and Jen Woodgate were compelled to make a difference in the fight against childhood hunger. And so cuddle + kind was created, to fill “hearts and bellies around the world.” Cuddle + kind dolls are the only handcrafted, knitted dolls that help feed children around the world.
For every cuddle + kind doll sold, they give 10 meals to children in need!
“With a background in health, we recognize the crucial role nutrition plays in a child’s development. As parents, we believe all children should have enough food to eat and an opportunity to thrive, so when we saw a documentary on how widespread childhood hunger is, it made us unbearably sad. On that very day, we decided to do something about it. Our whole family is passionate about what we`re doing and loves every doll we make, we sincerely hope you do too.”
– Derek and Jen Woodgate

From cuddle + kind:
“Cuddle + kind is a new social endeavor created by a family of five on a mission to help feed children in need.
We’ve developed 9 cuddle + kind dolls and have committed to a small production run, but we need your support to unlock the potential of this project. Please support us and help us fund the production of more doll characters so we can help feed as many kids as we can. Every doll is hand-knit using 100% cotton by an artisan in Peru. We hope that you can appreciate the beauty in the fine detail and craftsmanship. Each hand-knit doll makes a fantastic shower gift, birthday or Christmas present and adds a modern, colourful touch to any nursery décor.
Filling hearts and bellies around the world. We created cuddle + kind to help feed kids and to make a difference. How will we give 10 meals? Through giving relationships we will sponsor feeding in the WFP School Launch program and be able to sponsor the feeding at Orphanages in Haiti through the Children’s Hunger Fund.”

How sweet are they? Now the only part is deciding which doll!
I’m debating between Benedict, Maximus and Everest – how about you?
Make sure to head to cuddle + kind’s website to see all of their current hand knit dolls.
Although this post was initially done in 2015, three years later and cuddle + kind is still going strong! They now have added a cuddle + kind “little collection” to their shop. And if it’s possible it’s made these beautiful hand knit dolls even more adorable. Cuddle + kind has no plans on stopping their philanthropic efforts anytime soon, and continue to do special promo days where they increase their meals donated. In three years, we have collected several of cuddle + kind’s animals. Most recently, we’ve added Zoe the Unicorn and Maximus the cat! But the boys also have Benedict the bunny, Scout the deer, Wyatt the fox and Noah the dog.

They have done amazingly so far!
What a wonderful project. A company that's willing to give back is always admirable. This should serve as an example, if smaller businesses are willing to to help the less fortunate then the bigger ones should also consider giving back.
Yes, yes, yes! I love that they are showing that you don't have to be rich with money to 'make it' in todays world – giving back is so rewarding, they will be kings!
These are so adorable! I wish my daughter loved stuffed animals. The only one she plays with is her Mulan hand knit doll her auntie made her.
