Today is the day.
Excuse me while I have a mini meltdown.
As I alluded to in yesterday’s post (here), I’m doing something kind of huge today. Today I’m participating in the 4th Trimester Bodies Project – ah.
Because I’m feeling a little extra nervous and needed a pick me up I pulled out a very very bright maxi. They say the color red is associated with energy, strength, power, determination and love – all of which are very appropriate for the documentary project.
Slipping into this skirt instantly gave me a little boost.
I mean, how are you supposed to be anxious when you’re wearing a bold statement piece that also just so happens to be perfect for twirling? The fabric moves so beautifully it’s oddly enough actually a little calming to watch.
My gorgeous accessories all help add a little courage and bravery as well. My necklace, earrings and bracelet are all from Rocksbox and the arrow-like shapes in the necklace and bracelet make me feel a little like a warrior prepping for battle (if that makes any sense?). The turquoise ring was a gift from my grandmother: she and my grandfather had taken a jewelry making class together a few years ago and she had picked the stone from her collections while he mounted and soldered the pieces together. While he had made jewelry for.many years, it was one of his last pieces and wearing it gives me a feeling of comfort.
Turquoise is supposedly a symbol for open communication and clarity of thought, once again crucial parts of the interview portion of the project. It controls and heals emotions and helps create a feeling of emotional stability. I’m not quite sure what to expect from the interview, but I do know that the questions are meant to get into your soul. The interviewer and project leaders don’t want us to know the questions beforehand because they want genuine and raw answers, so I can use all the calming and clarity I can get!
My mind is racing and my hands are shaking so here’s to hoping the red + turquoise + Rocksbox beauties help me through this process!
Do you ever use your outfit to give yourself a boost like I do?
I’d love to hear about it below!
