Thank goodness it’s Fri-yay!
This has been such a long week and I’m pretty ready for it to be over already. H has been super super fussy lately and is needing to be held constantly or else he goes into meltdown mode which makes for one exhausted mama. I couldn’t figure out why he seemed so ‘off’ until I was brushing his teeth yesterday and saw the bottom of a giant molar sticking out of his upper gums – aha! After looking around for the 1.5 seconds more he let me before trying to bite my finger off, I discovered all 4 of his molars are showing their mean little heads. Apparently that’s why he’s been giving Niagara Falls a run for its money in the drooling department and why he’s been chewing on everything like it’s going out of style (this is when my teething + nursing necklaces from The Vintage Honey Shop become my saving grace).
He’s also been waking up every several hours, which is so not like the child we brought home from the hospital!
Knock on wood – he has always loved his sleep and has spoiled us with long 10-13 hour stretches at night and he’s still taking 2 naps a day, so when he’s not sleeping well, things get grumpy.
Thank goodness his neediness is outweighed by his cuddly sweetness when he doesn’t feel well. He’s still a crazy Hulk tornado, but for the first time in forever he’s been coming over and sitting on out laps for more than 5 seconds and giving tons of kisses and running start hugs.
Taking pictures with a very curious toddler has become increasingly difficult! Where I used to just be able to stand or sit him next to me, now as soon as his feet hit the floor he’s off, which makes for some rather blurry pictures.
I love everything this ProtectorLoverMother tee from The LB brand is about, plus it’s perfect for easy access nursing. I decided to go for a dressy casual look for #StitchFixFriday and pulled on this amazing printed pencil skirt I got in my last fix. Shop Dinkys just sent H these amazing Paper Wings printed denim shorts and they have quickly become some of our favorites! The waistband is adjustable so even though I have to size up for his cloth diapers, I can still make sure they’re snug enough around his waist, and then I just cuff the ends (which also means you can sometimes sneak a peek of the adorable gingham pockets) so the length isn’t too long.
I like that his shorts and my skirt are similar enough that with white and black tops it alllllmost looks like we’re matching, without being overly matchy-matchy – because sometimes I’m jealous of all the adorable mother and daughter outfit options and need to be able to indulge a little.
The Hubs Grandparents are coming into town this weekend so I’m excited for a little family time and for our first official overnight house guests! Our guest room is still a bit chaotic, but there’s nothing like a little time pressure to get us motivated to finish!
