This time of year wreaks havoc on my hair and skin! As soon as winter peeks it’s head out, my hair gets unruly and frizzy and my skin gets dry and itchy. Thankfully, I’ve found a few products that can combat the moisture-zapping weather:
1 / Unwash Bio-Cleansing Conditioner: Ever since struggling with postpartum hair loss and dryness, I’ve been searching for something to save my hair – I found Unwash on Instagram and was intrigued. I had head of CoWashing before, but never seriously looked into it because it sounded kind of gross to me, but figured I had nothing to lose so I ordered some and was so happy with the results! My crazy curly hair that had been thinned out was now happy again and I stopped losing chunks of hair in the shower and every time someone touched my hair!
2 / Moroccan Oil: There’s a reason this has so much hype around it – it is seriously a miracle worker for dry / frizzy / over processed hair! This particular Moroccan Oil not only smells amazing, but actually works wonders on my post partum, unruly hair. It is a little on the pricy side, but the bottle will last forever, as even someone with thick and long hair only needs a tiny bit. Moroccan Oil’s formula ‘transports lost proteins for strength; fatty acids, omega-3 oils and vitamins for shine; and antioxidants for protection’. One huge thing to note: I would not recommend buying it from Amazon or other online retailers, as I’ve heard too many horror stories of getting counterfeit product – I purchased mine straight from the salon, as that’s the only way to ensure you’re actually getting the real product.
3 / Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair Fragrance Free Moisturizer: This is probably my favorite new product! I received a full size to test and review from Influenster right as the weather started changing and I have become addicted. After the first application, I could tell a difference in the softness of my skin which lasted all day, and after just 3 days of applying it in the morning and after showering, I have zero dry or itchy spots, and my skin feels amazing! Vaseline Intensive Care Advance Repair moisturizer contains a specifically designed blend of glycerin to pull moisture into all layers of skin, and healing micro-droplets of Vaseline jelly. The lotion is creamy and goes on easily and leaves my skin feeling incredibly moisturized without greasy. I have already gone to Target and bought two more for when I run out! Find it at Walmart also, here
4 / Aveeno Positively Radient Daily Moisturizer Positively Radient Daily Moisturizer: Trying to find a great facial moisturizer for combination sensitive skin on a budget is hard! A few other mommy friends recommended this lotion and it’s great! It takes away the redness from my breakouts, improved the texture of my skin, and has made my complexion look so much better. The formula is non-greasy and doesn’t clog my pores and gives me a nice, healthy glow that makes it look like I almost got a ton of sleep last night.
5 / Mustela Hydra Bebe Body Lotion: I know this isn’t for mama, but the winter season is especially harsh on babies skins! Harrison has sensitive skin, so I’m hypersensitive of what I put on him, but this lotion is Hypoallergenic, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate Free, Alcohol Free and Paraben Free and smells exactly like a baby should. We put this on right after baths and it’s absorbed in seconds without being greasy and everyone always comments on how good he smells, and my hands are always left feeling extra soft too. It’s a great lotion for littles who have Eczema as well!

Unwash sounds interesting- any issues with oily hair? I'd just be curious how it kept my roots from getting greasy.

I'm not gonna lie, the first week, my hair did feel a little greasy – but after about a week everything regulated itself and now I have no issues with greasiness. They have two other products than the main biocleansing wash, and one of them is a deep cleaner, which I usually use about once a week / week and a half depending, just to strip all the buildup from hair products.
