What were some of your favorite Saturday morning cartoons when you were a kid? I wanted to be just like my brother, so everything he liked, I liked too. We would head downstairs in the morning, grab a bowl of cereal and tip toe into the living room. He switched on the TV and I would stare at the screen, transfixed at the magic happening in front of me. That magic was The Transformers. Watching the Autobots not only save the world, but go from vehicle to robot was unlike anything I had ever imagined. We weren’t allowed much TV growing up, but being an 80s baby, we made sure to save up our TV time to watch the Autobots defeat the Decepticons every week. Flash forward, just a couple of years later, and now I have kids of my own. And my oldest, H, is obsessed with all things mechanical. When we found out there was going to be a new BumbleBee movie this holiday season, I genuinely don’t know who was more excited. Especially considering […]

Breastfeeding has made me not only hungrier than a teenage boy, but has also made my sweet tooth go crazy. Usually I reach for cookies, chocolate, candy – or let’s be honest, all of the above. However, that’s not working out so well for me anymore. Thanks to the weight I’ve gained the past few weeks, I set out to find a healthy green smoothie for breastfeeding moms that would satisfy my sweet tooth. And the result is pretty delicious. If I may say so myself… This Oatmeal Cookie Green Smoothie is super easy to prepare, and makes for a great breakfast on the go. Are you breastfeeding? Even better – this green smoothie is a perfect way for breastfeeding moms to get a little extra nutrition in and it has several ingredients that are great for breastmilk production! As an added bonus, this green smoothie also makes for a pretty awesome way to satisfy your sweet tooth without guilt. So feel free to make yourself one (or two…) and enjoy! Not a banana fan? That’s ok! You can skip that part. I just love the creamy texture it gives. To make this yummy green smoothie a *little* sweeter, you can always […]

Toddler Approved Peach Smoothie I’ve shared some of our favorite toddler approved green smoothies before, but I like to mix it up for H every so often so he doesn’t get bored of his daily drink. He’s definitely starting to get more picky about what he will and won’t eat, so a smoothie is a great way to sneak in some healthy goodness to what he thinks is just a sweet and yummy snack! My parents took H to a vineyard and fruit orchard this past weekend, so we are swimming in peaches. I’m definitely not complaining as peaches are basically the best summer fruit out there, but my waistline is hurting after enjoying so many of the peach crumbles that we love, so it was time to mix it up and enjoy them in a little healthier of a way.

Toddler Approved Green Smoothie Recipe Ideas: If you follow me on Instagram, you know that H hasn’t always been the best eater. At our recent 15 month checkup, his pediatrician asked me to really start pushing solids. He said at this age, H needs to be nursing less and eating more ‘real’ food. While he has gotten so so so much better (seriously though, it was like a light went off the next day and he decided he did, in fact, like to eat), I have found that if I make a smoothie, he’ll run off with it and suck it down by the time I find him hiding in the laundry room corner. I started using my Nutribullet (my favorite of all 4 of my blenders) to make him a giant batch of a fruit and veggie smoothie in the morning and refill his Nuby No Spill™ Two Handle Super Straw Grip N Sip™ as he finishes them throughout the day! This Nuby No Spill so far is my favorite cup for […]

NutriGold Prenatal Multi Gold vitamins are an awesome addition to my daily green smoothie, and are vegetarian friendly! Ingredients: 4 NutriGold Prenatal Multivitamin Gold Capsules (1 serving) 1 large handful of kale (probably 1 – 2 cups) 1 cup frozen fruit (I love the mango, papaya, pineapple, strawberry mix from Costco) 1 cup Chilled Water (may need more) 1 tbs chia seeds 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tbs local real honey Directions: 1. Mix Kale, Chia, Cinnamon, Fruit and Water in blender 2. Pinch NutriGold Prenatal MultiVitamin Gold Capsules and pull apart to separate. 3. Pour into smoothie mixture with honey and discard capsule containers. 4. Mix well in blender. 5. Serve and enjoy! I love that with this smoothie, I’m not only getting a ton of rich vitamin and minerals from the Kale and fruit, but also from the NutriGold Prenatal Multivitamins as well! I would consider this a single serving size, but it also takes me over an hour to drink, due to a little hulk baby […]
DIY Green Lactation Smoothie I’ve been asked a lot about my shakes lately, so I thought I’d share the deliciousness that is my favorite smoothie. I have to have one every. Single. Morning. Seriously. Days that I don’t get a chance to make one, I feel lethargic and find myself reaching for whatever I can get my hands on to fill my tummy – not good when you’re trying to lose the baby weight! It is chock-full of good for you vitamins, fiber, and is great for nursing moms to help with milk production. It’s also great post-workout because of the banana and coconut water to help replenish what you’ve lost during a good sweat session. As a mom with a clingy 4-month-old, most days this smoothie is what keeps me going throughout the day until my husband gets home and I can eat something real. Ingredients: 2 – 3 big handfuls of spinach / kale / power greens 1.5 cups of mango (I use frozen from Costco) 1 banana 1 handful of baby carrots 3/4 c of blueberries 2 tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes 1 tbs chia seeds 1 tbs flaxseed or flax meal 2-4 […]
