I’m sharing #MrsMeyers in my life as part of a Mrs. Meyer’s sponsored series for Socialstars™
Moments of peace and calm are few and far between these days. Mom life has been so much different than expected! Little things like grocery shopping or going to the post office by myself are moments of peace where I don’t have kiddos running around and constantly asking me “why”. In my 3 years of motherhood, I have discovered that without self care, I start to go a little stir crazy. It’s SO important to make sure to take care of yourself, just as we as mothers take care of our children.
I have one super simple way that I incorporate self care and a moment of peace in my life everyday. And trust me, it is very very necessary!
Have a spa moment.
I know, I know. You’re a mom. You’re busy. How in the heck are you supposed to have a spa like atmosphere when you have children running around?! As I’ve mentioned before, scent is a powerful thing. Aromatherapy is an easy way to feel like you’re in a zen spa without having to leave home or spend a lot of money out.
My favorite way to do this is after the kids are asleep, I grab my favorite Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Body Wash and head for the shower. Their Lavender scent bodywash is just heavenly and as soon as I pour the liquid into my hands, I can start to feel the stress melt away.
Not only am I washing away the day’s worries with the Clean Day Body Wash, but it’s also like hitting the restart button. Mrs Meyer’s delicious scents are the perfect addition to the delicate foam formula that leaves my skin feeling soft and smelling good. Made with aloe vera gel, flaxseed oil, and a unique blend of essential oils, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Body Washes are easy on my sensitive skin. And you don’t have to take my word for it either – they have been dermatologically tested to be gentle on your skin!
If I can sneak away for a moment during the afternoon when the unicorn of naps happens (AKA: when both kiddos are sleeping at the same time), I like to switch things up a little bit.
The Basil scent is another favorite from Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day line, and the body wash is no exception. I used to hoard the hand soap in this fragrance whenever it went on sale, and I love that it’s now in body wash form. It’s just divine! And gives me the perfect afternoon pick me up and is such a perfect smell for Spring!
Make a playlist
I am a playlist addict. I love making different ones depending on my mood and need. There are so many awesome free tools out there now to do this, which means there’s no excuse not to. I have different ones for when I need to get work done and be motivated, for when I exercise and need to get pumped up, for when I have silly dance parties with my kids. But my favorite is an acoustic mix I made to help me unwind.
Thanks to modern technology, my playlists go everywhere I do. All I have to do is push play on my phone, and the room fills with soft instruments and soothing voices. Being able to listen to music while lathering up with indulgent scents is my happy place. I can hum along as I close my eyes and for a moment, it takes me away to a place with no responsibilities.
Treat yourself with soft spa towels.
One of the best purchases I’ve made is buying spa-quality towels. There’s something about drying off after a relaxing shower with a big, fluffy, soft material. Yes, they were a little bit more of an investment than our regular every day towels, but SO WORTH IT. Even better is if I can throw them in the dryer right before I hop in the shower, so that they’re warm and toasty!
Just imagine – you step out of a hot shower, just having experienced an amazing aromatherapy experience thanks to Mrs. Meyer’s Body Wash. You are already feeling more relaxed, and grab your warm fluffy towel. The steam from the shower carries the fragrance and fills the room. You close your eyes as you inhale deeply and wrap your towel around you. Aaahhhhhh. Yeah. I’m more relaxed even just picturing it.
Taking this little time for myself is the perfect way to end the chaotic days. Which is everyday when you’re a mom!
How do you create your moment’s of rest and relaxation after a long day?
