I was so excited when the team at Freshly Picked reached out to me to get a sneak peek at their new Marketplace. We are huge fans of Freshly Picked moccasins around here. In fact, they are the only shoes my son wore for almost the first two years of his life!
Susan, the mama behind the cult favorite mocc brand, remembers when she was just starting out in the new baby product category, and wanted to use her brand’s success to help other small shops. The Freshly Picked Marketplace does just that! It was created to introduce parents to amazing small shops, learn more about their stories, and have an easy platform to shop them all. Susan and her team at Freshly Picked hand pick each and every single small business product that’s included, so you know they’ve got to be good!
When our box arrived from the FP team, I couldn’t wait to see what brands were inside. My bank account can attest to the fact that Instagram shopping is a dangerous place for me, and I was curious to see if I would recognize any of the brands or products. I totally lucked out and had goodies from Freshly Picked, Bannor Toys, Koko’s Blanket, and Madeline’s box, and I can tell they are all going to be in heavy rotation!
Freshly Picked Moccasins:
First up: the cutest baby shoes ever, a pair of Freshly Picked moccasins (duh)! I ordered the Beehive State moccs from the Utah collection and they are the perfect color for Fall. I love the gender neutral aspect of the subtle mustard, so we can pass them down to future babes, and they go with everything! The full grain Italian leather is super soft and will definitely keep Jude’s toes warm in the chilly Fall and Winter seasons, but also still be breathable for the Spring and Summer.
Bannor Toys Wooden Toys:
I have been following Bannor Toys on Instagram since we found out I was pregnant with H, and they just keep getting better! H totally freaked out when I opened our gift, went straight for the Wooden Car and started zooming around the house. The unstained maple is finished with beeswax and flaxseed oil, so while H likes driving it around now (which is great for motor skills!), I also have a feeling it’ll be great for when J starts teething and needs something to chomp on. It’s the perfect size for little hands to drive around and makes just enough noise without being obnoxious when those little hands shake it.
While this box is for J, H is making sure he does his brotherly duty of breaking everything in for baby bro. As he is currently obsessed with building ALL the things, he got really excited when I pulled Bannor Toy’s wooden ABC Blocks out. The mixture of unstained cherry, maple and walnut hardwood blocks are finished the same way as the car, so I know they’ll last a looooooooong time, but don’t have to worry about them going into the kids’ mouths. On one side of each of the blocks is an uppercase letter with a lowercase letter on the reverse, so we’re having a fun time spelling words out and working on letter recognition, as well as building super tall towers that can be knocked over time and time again.
Koko’s Nest Blanket:
We are all about snuggling in this house, so this Koko’s Nest Grays Knit Blanket is perfect! Sy Yang created Koko’s nest out of the desire for a useful but beautiful baby item for her son as he grew, and this blanket will definitely be just that for J. The Egyptian cotton yarn is super soft and snuggly and perfectly warm without being overly bulky. We use it for swaddling, couch and bedtime snuggles, and for laying during tummy time. I love the grey, minty blue green, creamy off-white and soft buttery yellow color combination, and it would make a great gift for any sweet little!
Madeline’s Box Pacifier Clip:
I am a huge proponent for shopping small, and love that Susan is using her wide reach as an opportunity to give these brands more exposure! Remember, when you’re buying from a small shop, you’re paying for ballet lessons, braces, baseball, groceries and the like – not stuffing more money into an already inflated CEOs pockets. So this year when you’re looking for gifts for the little ones you love, make sure you check out the Freshly Picked Marketplace, discover some wonderful small shops, and support the mom and pop shops this holiday season!
A big thank you to Susan and the Freshly Picked team for sending me a sneak peek!
