How is it possible that I’m already in the second trimester?! They say subsequent pregnancies fly by when you have other kiddos to watch over, but I had no idea how true that was until I experienced it. Trying to keep up with a very active and needy toddler and general life stuff means there’s not a lot of time left to think about the little person growing inside of you!
12 weeks:
A little scare meant we got to see baby again today. My OB decided to change my due date to 9/17 instead of 9/21 because the baby is measuring 12w 5d instead of 12w 1d, but this mama is sticking with her (rather large 😜) gut and the later date.
So happy baby is growin like a champ and has a super strong heartbeat of 167.
The little one was moving around like crazy for us, wriggling its little arms and legs around like crazy, and H thought it was so cool to see his baby on the screen. He is now referring to him/her as baby gummi bear (completely unprompted P.S.), which is just about the cutest term of endearment I’ve heard come out of his mouth.
13 weeks:
Oh, hay there 2nd Tri! Got me feelin like 🎉🙏🏻🎉🙏🏻🎉🙏🏻
((Caution: bump in this photo may appear larger than real life 😬))
13 weeks today and allllllmost slightly less exhausted. Good news is nausea + pukeyness is under control thanks to the beauty that is Diclegis, so I’m finally able to chug all the water and apply juice my body is so badly craving. Girl Scout Samoas, Stacey’s Pita Chips, Oranges and Salads are all high atop the foods I can’t get enough of and it literally feels like my appetite has quadrupled overnight 🐷
So so so happy to have made it to the official start of the second trimester and know that our sweet babe is healthy as an ox. Bear is measuring a week ahead and my midwife had a hard time getting the heartbeat with the Doppler long enough bc bear is a definite mover and shaker!
Big smiles all around ❤️
14 weeks:
Hello, 14 weeks!
I alllllllmost think I felt baby yesterday after drinking a huge glass of sweet tea – buuuut the logical side of me is saying it most likely was just gas 😜 Any second time (or more) moms feel baby WAY earlier in subsequent pregnancies?
Still exhausted and nauseous most days, but I know the end is in sight!
15 weeks:
Torpedo Belly: engaged 😬
This week I can’t get enough of carrots, beets, juicy steak, raspberries and giant old-fashioned pretzels 🐷 But seriously, steak is my current love language and I don’t care who knows it.
My hips have an area code all their own, and my boobs may have doubled in size (TMI?), but I’m soaking in this blessing of a viable pregnancy (especially now that I’m not doubled over and puking my guts out every 2 seconds) and trying to embrace all of the changes my body is growing through!
Finding my ‘spot’ in bed to sleep is starting to get more difficult, however, and I just can’t seem to get comfy anymore so PLEASE give me your #pregnancypillow recommendations! This mama needs to get some good nights rest and not wake up with an achy body!
16 weeks:
Hello 16-week bump! –
(PSA: I’ve been blocked on IG for the past 7 days after trying to respond to a sweet comment left on one of my photos, so I promise I’m not ignoring you all! My DMs are all blank right now, so if you’ve sent me a message and I’m not responding – please send me an email!)
Felt a few little blips the past three nights after eating knock-off Girl Scout Samosas (obvi baby loves them as much as mama does!) and it’s helping ease the increasing anxieties that have snuck up from nowhere.
So. Dang. Tired. Like, hard to keep my eyes open all day long, bone-deep exhaustion. Any tips on how to pick up my energy, safely?
17 weeks:
Literally just walked in the door from a 3 day, no cell phone service, camping trip with a toddler, took out my mom bun, threw on some lipstick and handed the hubby the camera. Hence the 😬😬😬
It was a looooong 3 days, with lots of navigational mistakes, and I think we’re both pretty happy to be back home in our own beds.
17 weeks today! Feeling way more consistent flutters from the baby which is awesome and makes me feel like this: ☺️
Can we talk pregnancy pants/leggings? I hate all pants right now and am in that weird uncomfortable phase. I’d love your suggestions on favorite shops that carry leggings comfortable for a growing belly, or your favorite maternity jeans!
18 weeks:
18 weeks and I think it’s safe to say I’ve officially popped big time!
Cravings this week: over easy eggs on toast with feta and avocado, frozen blueberries, carrots, and steak (yes… Still steak. Always steak.)
Insomnia has kicked in, but I’m actually sleeping comfortably when I can, thanks to my @belliflypillow (more on that later, but if you haven’t checked them out – it’s SUCH a cool pillow!). The Round Ligament Pains have started up, how did I forget about those this time around?!
Overall, though, I’m just happy to still be pregnant, and overall the scary -ish!
Who wants to recommend their maternity/nursing bras? I can’t find any of mine and the one I still have is rather sad looking. Tag your favorite companies, or let me know where you shop for yours!
How are my other Fall 2016 mamas doing? Has your energy come back at all yet?
19 weeks:
Still exhausted, but at least my migraine is down to a slight headache (thanks to you all for the advice yesterday! Dr. Pepper and Tylenol was the magic combination!). Feeling flutters more consistently, and they’re getting stronger every day!
This has been a super weird and ‘off’ week for me – maybe all the hormones? Definitely not feeling like myself, and just uncomfortable – but not in a physical way. Does that make any sense?
Let’s talk about pregnancy ‘must haves’, especially for second and third trimesters: what are yours? And why?
