If you remember at the beginning of last week, I shared with you one of my favorite #DIFinds from Deseret Industry Thrift Store’s Grand Opening (find it here). Well, while that green sleeveless blouse is on a heavy rotation, this amazing Gap dress might just be my favorite piece I picked up that day.
First off – can we talk about the color?! Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2015 is Marsala, which just makes this six dollar score from Deseret Industry’s new Nampa location all the more wonderful! I am a huge fan of the rich, deep almost burgundy-like color, especially for the upcoming fall and winter season, so when I saw the sleeve of this dress peeking out in one of the rounders, I immediately gravitated towards it. I won’t lie, it definitely didn’t look like much on the hanger, and in fact the Hubs totally turned up his nose when I asked him what he thought so I almost didn’t even try it on! I am so glad that I did, though, because it is awesome!
This Marsala dress is from Gap, and I’m sure retailed for far more than $6, and literally looks good with everything I’ve paired it with! This combination I wore last weekend might be my favorite that I’ve put together so far, especially considering every single piece I found on sale! The felted fedora hat with a little vegan leather band is from Target from last winter’s clearance and was $5.42, and I think the camel color goes beautifully with the earthy wine coloring of the dress. I’m a sucker for leopard prints with everything, and its incredible what a huge difference this leopard print pony hair belt I found at Nordstrom makes in the shape and fit – and just reinforces why it’s one of my closet staples. For walking around town with my dudes, I wore flat booties, but I love how these open toed cage heels kind of dress up the look a little more. I am so not a coordinated person in any sense, so low heels are a must, and these have a substantial enough heel and are low enough that I don’t teeter totter around like a drunken buffoon.
This beauty of a thrifted Marsala Gap dress is great dressed up or down, and I’m so excited to start pairing it with leggings and tights for different looks as the weather cools down. It’s just one of those awesome dresses that I can grab and throw on and not have to think about, so it makes getting ready super easy! For now, I’m going to enjoy the last few days where my bare legs won’t freeze and try to soak in the last of the relatively warm weather!
Are you a fan of Pantone’s color of the year Marsala? Do you own anything in the gorgeous burgundy / wine color?
