I am so excited about today’s Monday Introductions!
Little Loves Tees is a newly opened shop, started by Leah and Courtney, two mamas who have always had a desire to start their own businesses.
Throughout our many emails and Instagram interactions, it has been so obvious that Leah and Courtney are incredibly genuine and enthusiastic about their new adventure of being creators.
Leah is a stay at home mom to two sweet boys, has been married to her husband, Ryan, for almost 5 years, and they live on a farm (how cool is that!!) with her 98 year old grandfather, and Courtney is a mom to one super cute little dude and is also married to a Ryan (but not the same one 😉 haha). Funnily enough, Leah dated Courtney’s husband Ryan for 5 years in high school, and Courtney dated Leah’s brother for a little bit in high school, but they weren’t actually friends at all until they each had children – how crazy is that? They refer to themselves as an unlikely duo and I would say that’s pretty accurate!!
Now that they both have kiddos, the business bug started to grow and Leah and Courtney wanted to start designing super cute clothing for their kids (and themselves) to wear. Being a stay at home mom, Leah also wanted to find something she could do from home (that wasn’t wraps or oils or bags – preach it sister!) that would also be able to help out their families financially, and Little Loves Tees was born! While UnlikelyDuo was a front runner for their business name, they figured it might take a lot of explaining, so they used their nicknames for their kiddos instead – their little loves, and everything else just fell into place. Leah may say that Courtney is the fashionable one who always looks super cute and knows how to put outfits together, but I think they both have great style.
Balance is hard and crazy, but both Leah and Courtney say its so worth it. Courtney works full time on top of being a part of LLT, which I can only imagine must be a huge struggle to have enough time in her day, and Leah tries to make a point to only work during her two sons nap times and after their bedtimes. Their boys keep them really busy, and they’re still working on the balance, but Leah says it’s like going from one to two kids: “It takes a little while to find out how to balance everything but you get into a routine and it comes natural”.
What has been your favorite piece so far? “We are getting ready to release a shirt that says Mine until Marriage and it’s so totally true. I know my years with the boys just being mine are limited but until they get married, they are ALLLLL mine!”
Any sneak peaks or hints to new designs you’re thinking of? “We have so new designs in the works and we are excited about them. We are trying to make shirts that will match. Like have a mommy shirt and a kids shirt that will having a saying that goes with the mommy shirt.”
If you were to try out for The Voice, what song would you pick to sing? “Well since the only songs I really know now are kids songs it would probably be Mickey Mouse Clubhouse because that’s the only song I know all the words to hahaha”
Although Leah would secretly love to be a bounty hunter and go on the hunt with Dog and Beth, she is pretty happy with being a working from home super mom, and you can usually find her outside skiing or hiking or inside baking and indulging in some serious junk food – cereal, cinnamon rolls, short bread cookies, yum! Both Leah and Courtney credit their husbands and kids with inspiring them to start their businesses – they are fortunate enough to have very supportive families in this new and exciting endeavor!
