Recipe // Priority Chef Ricer & Sweet Potato + Cauliflower Mash from The Fit Fork

Have y'all tried making cauliflower mash instead of mashed potatoes yet? I made some the other week with the new potato ricer / masher that Priority Chef sent me to try out and it was a huge hit with both the hubs and Hulk bebé!
I love that it was still incredibly flavorful and delicious, and way healthier than the typical thanksgiving side dish.

I am now officially obsessed with attempting to mash / rice any and all steamed and cooked vegetables to see how they turn out, so when I came across this amazing looking recipe from The Fit Fork for Sweet Potato & Cauliflower Mash, I knew I had to attempt it and I am SO glad I did!
The only thing I changed was taking out the parsley (official recipe can be found at the above and below links) and I used a non-dairy plain yogurt since we're still staying away from cow's milk due to Hulk bebé's intolerance.

All I'm gonna say is YOU'RE WELCOME for opening your eyes to this delicious recipe from The Fit Fork!
Sweet Potato & Cauliflower Mash Recipe
(Found here from The Fit Fork)
2 pounds sweet potatoes
1 pound cauliflower florets
3 tablespoons milk of choice
¼ cup plain non-dairy yogurt
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste

1. Peel and cut sweet potato into 1 ½ -inch chunks.
2. In large pot with steam basked, steam sweet potato and cauliflower with 1 inch of water in bottom of pot. Vegetables will be ready in about 10 – 12 minutes, or when fork tender.
3. Place in large bowl and mash the potato and cauliflower with the milk. Stir in the Greek yogurt, garlic powder, salt and pepper. If too thick, add milk 1 tablespoons at a time, until desired consistency is achieved.

  1. I'm a minimalist when it comes to kitchen gadgets but I like that this ricer isn't too bulky. I've heard ricers create a fluffier finished product so I might put it on my list. Btw love that big squiiish sound it made. Haha

    1. Ha the squish noise is actually my favorite part! I have seriously never had such fluffy 'mashes' - it's pretty incredible.

  2. I added cauliflower to mashed potatoes a long time ago when DS was younger and my husband said he could taste the "hidden" veggie. Hmm. I have not been brave enough to do it again.

    1. I like them in sweet potato / yams over potatoes because the sweet potatoes definitely camouflage the taste way more!

  3. I am so loving this masher i want one, cool video demo

    1. I am so excited to use it for thanksgiving this year! And thank you for the video comment, I'm attempting to branch out but I feel so awkward!

  4. I have never used a potato ricer. I might have to try/buy one. Thanks!

    1. Let me know if you do! I'd love to hear what you think!
